Market day in Castelnuovo

Castelnuovo is our nearest biggish town, about half an hour away, and on Thursday, we went along to have a look at the street market.  It is weekly,  but today it was bigger than usual, presumably a combination of the season and the good weather.  The town was thronged ...

Another lovely day ...
The town is proud of its association with Ariosto - the author of Orlando Furioso was governor of the area in 1520, a couple of years after he wrote the first edition
Clothes stalls are always a favourite ...
Quite a setting ...
A side street well-dressed for the season

  1. A splendid setting indeed. I'm in a rather more humble Burntisland which is neither burnt nor an island but your photos show Castelnuovo has a magnificent high walled fortified structure. Presumably it is the castle which must have been new some considerable time ago.

  2. Yes, Lynn, it's called the Rocca Ariostesca (Ariostesca and dates to the 12th cent. It was badly damaged by Allied bombing in the war and thus presents a very cleaned up appearance!
