Barbara's trip to Barga ...

Several days in the week, Barbara goes down to Barga to "fare le spese" - do the shopping.  Yesterday, she took some photos with her phone of some views of the town.

The duomo on the hill ...
Many of the palazzi have elaborate doorways like this - a grand palazzo,  but tucked away out of sight in a narrow medieval side street
A seeming eye infliction adds to the pathos of this statue - in fact it is the nest of a mason bee, which builds mud homes in crannies in stone structures (see larger, but less obvious nest under the hair to the left, and in the arms)
The road running below the walls of the duomo - dwindling snow on the Appenines just visible in the distance
Riot of colour!
The hillside seen from the town - La Serra is the yellow house in the centre of photo
The Fornacetta - named after the clay kilns existing here in former times.  It is the "bridge" we cross as we wend our way home
Fun in the sun - two contented hens enjoy a dustbath in one of the gardens on the Fornacetta
