Luciana from the farm along the road appeared at the door on Tuesday to ask us along for lunch yesterday - very kind. The star of the show was the Polenta di Granturco, or polenta gialla (yellow). This is to to be confused with polenta di castagna, made from chestnuts and a speciality of the Garfagnana area. We have never had it - I think it may be an acquired taste!
It was a fine meal (great polenta!) in good company, and afterwards we went for a walk up the path to Tiglio to walk it off a bit.

Candida gives the polenta a last stir with the formidable "mistone" - the stirring stick which seems designed for bigger occasions (note silver cup on the right awarded to Candida for her pecorino (sheep's milk) cheese

Tiglio seen from the road nearer to home

Nearly home - Monte Gragno looms over the last corner in the road

Two ants seem to struggle an arctic waste, as they traverse a track of several yards from A to B on the wall of the house ...
