Out of the woods ...

On Saturday, we took delivery of a load of logs - we had only around a week's worth left.  We ordered it on the phone to the woodsman - arranging it all speaking Italian to a Macedonian man whose mother tongue is Albanian!  It is amazing things went to plan!

To reduce handling, we persuaded him to shoot the logs over the fence at the top of the olive terraces, to land down at the level we would build the new stack on.  It's a hazardous procedure, as the trailer has to be over the kerb on the brink of the slope, with the tractor right across the road.  This should not matter much, as the procedure only takes a minute or two.. Not this time!  Because of the tilt, the tailgate of the trailer stuck, and the logs refused to come out!  After much fiddling and hammering, the load fell, but we had quite a tailback of stony-faced motorists by this time!

A precarious position ...
A long drop ...
The work begins ...
The stack begins to take shape
Tuesday - almost done...
