Keeping warm ...

Our cold spell continues cold and very dry, mostly sunny and recently windy too, which magnifies the cold of course.  No more lunches on the terrace!

The birds are feeling it obviously, with the kaki tree chirping like an aviary in the morning.  Only the robin seems to eat the breadcrumbs we put out, so I think it will be very quiet once the kaki are all gone - which will be soon.  The commonest bird is still the Leiothrix - a cage bird from the orient which has set up a few colonies in Europe - one of them being Barga.  They are lovely!

Barbara and a neighbour both had birthdays this week, so we had a wee party last night ...

Our Leiothrixes demolish a kaki for energy ...
... and a blackcap puffs up to keep warm
Wrapped up for the shopping
The birthday party with hotpot and hot stove ...
