January begins ...

New year, old weather - very low rainfall here, which is fine for us, but I think it's been a problem for the ski resorts here in the Appenines and farther north.  We had a little rain here last Tuesday, however, and that has given us a nice dusting of white on the mountains.  We've had our friend Lorraine here for a few days, and she's had some good weather - sunny, but very cold, down to -6°C last night.

Same old view ...
... and later
We visited the nearby village of Coreglia - seen here with the Appenines beyond
After walking round town, we needed a warming coffee - this is the view from the cafe
At Fornaci station Lorraine prepares to head for Pisa airport
Several blackcaps have been feasting on the remaining fruits on the kaki tree

  2. I missed this blog when you put it up. So glad I found it now as it is a very special one. The picture of Coreglia with that sky and snowy hills is spectacular. Lovely to see Lorraine there with Barbara. Then also a beautifully focused pictuer of a black cap. Fantastic.
