Lillias, Denyse and Bologna

On Tuesday, we made the trip to Bologna to see Lillias and Denyse, who were there after spending a few days in Rome.  In Rome, they had experienced wonderful sunny summer weather - just as we had in Barga in fact.  In Bologna -  well it wasn't quite so good.  Bologna, and all the towns of the Po valley, are subject to cold swirling fogs in winter time.

As with Siena, the journey for us is quite complex - train to Lucca, connection to Prato, then Prato to Bologna.  It takes about three hours.

We stayed in the same B&B that we stayed in last time, which is in the narrow streets of what was the Jewish Ghetto until 1938.

Cathedral and walls of Lucca seen as we left the railway
station for a much-needed cappuccino ...
Bologna's crazily leaning towers seem to be entangled
in a spider's web of cables
Later that night, the view from our window along the narrow street

With Lillias and Denise next morning in Piazza San Stefano after coffee
In Bologna, it's all about the food! - There are several fishmonger's in
this street full of food shops
Saying goodbye to Olga our host, as we leave

  1. this Olga's B&B seems a good tip. What is their official B&B name?
